In India, though the Location Based Service (LBS) is at a very promising stage, there is not much adoption of LBS by the large magnitude of users due to lack of awareness and their inability to operate the system owing to language divide. In this context, to guide citizen with the exact information in native languages at right place in real timewith location sensitivity for secured life, an indigenous software has been developed on GPS enabled mobile for routing, tracking, warning, rescue, etc.
Some features of the software are as follows:
Know where we are
Multilingual support
- English, Hindi and Malayalam
- Option to incorporate more languages
Read map layers such as road, landmarks, etc (GIS vector data) in .shp, .kml and intrinsic formats
Display satellite data
Rescue by pressing an emergency button
- If an emergency button is pressed by the user, the location (coordinates) of the user will be sent as an SMS to the rescuer mobile who will automatically visualise the position of the user on a map background along with emergency sound
- The rescue module helps Parents, Police, Hospital, BPO employees, etc. significantly
Navigation
- Create new path
- Save routes taken
Follow path
- Warning when a planned route is not followed.
- Warn when approach hazardous/restricted area; for example, warn when near a crevasse in glaciated area
Replay tracks
GeoTagging - Option to click photographs with automatic inscribing of coordinates (latitude and longitude) information
Application areas are emergency, police, mobile tracking, medical information, personal safety, tourism, transport, field data collection, defense, etc.
