Typical applications include packet capture and processing, network monitoring and analysis, extensive packet filtering, slicing, tagging and indexing, physical layer validation of multilane interfaces, network traffic generator, Layer1/Layer2 10G/40G Ethernet tester, network jammer, triple-play tester, Ethernet protocol analyzer, delay emulator, skew tester, packet capture and playback, etc. This system can also be used as a development platform for designing high speed network and high performance systems. The system supports three 40G and 10G Ethernet ports fully compliant to IEEE802.3ba and 16 Lane PCI-Express based host interface.

Ultrasonic Systems

SOUNDS

Sonic Ultrasonic Non Destructive test System (SOUNDS) is designed for non-destructive testing and evaluation of materials, using sonic and ultrasonic frequencies. Characteristics of the material used in the test specimen and its internal flaws can be detected by measuring the velocity and attenuation of a sonic-ultrasonic wave while passing through the test specimen. The hardware is designed for wideband operation and amplification over wide dynamic range of signals. Special enclosure is designed for transducers and cables for fire safe operation. It has security features built-in for use in non-destructive testing in areas handling explosives. SOUNDS MK2 R4 is the first equipment of its kind developed in India for the solid motor segment inspection.

Echosounder

Echosounder is a product developed by C-DAC for Indian navy, for use in ships for measuring depth of sea water. The equipment is being manufactured by KELTRON based on a ToT agreement with C-DAC. The upgraded version supports synchronized operation (with other sonar systems) as well as mine hunting sonar and has successfully completed sea trials.

Acoustic Landmine Detection System (ALMS)

ALMS can be fitted on BMP vehicles (amphibious infantry fighting vehicle) such that the measurement of characteristics of the vibrations transferred to ground by BMP vehicle while moving can be used for detection of buried land mines. ALMS uses a separate earth exciter for generating the interrogation beam which would lead to an optimally designed ground exciter for ALMS.

Ultrasonic Diameter Measuring System (UDMS)

C-DAC has taken up a project to develop a high precision measuring system of diameter of heat-resistant composite alloy pipes employed in power plants based on ultrasonic principles. The technology can also be used in a wide variety of applications such as precision liquid level measurement, precise machinery control in industries, robotic control, non-destructive testing applications, biomedical imaging, etc.

Other Solutions

Electronic System Design and Training Through e-learning

C-DAC is developing low-cost boards in the area of electronic system design along with the experiment manual and e-learning contents. The developed platform is an easy to use Low cost FPGA Development board featuring Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA. It is specially designed for experimenting and learning digital system design with FPGAs.

Handheld Electronic Nose

Handheld Electronic Nose (HEN) is an artificial olfaction device that can sense smell and finds applications in quality assessment of agro, horticulture and food products such as tea, jasmine and cardamom. It is a portable and battery operated device. During the year, Transfer of Technology (ToT) of the above solution was carried to industry partner.

Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions

C-DAC has developed number of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and systems. This includes solutions such as Wireless IP Network Gateway for Zigbee (WINGZ), Ubimote for high performance wireless communication, BLEMOTE for Bluetooth compliant communication and Wi-Fi Mote for IEEE 802.11b/g/n and Ubisense, a generic sensor board. Transfer of Technology (ToT) of the IoT Products has been carried out to industry partner.

India Microprocessor

C-DAC is actively involved in this initiative and study was carried out on various commercial and open source microprocessor architectures and requirements of various strategic and R&D microprocessor users of the country. As a part of this activity, C-DAC carried out the following:

  1. Critical analysis and comparison of popular ISAs
  2. Detailed evaluation of ANURAG Processor family designed by DRDO
  3. Evaluation of available Open Source Microprocessor architectures
  4. Detailed elicitation of user requirements
Based on the above activities, C-DAC has prepared a detailed project report and submitted to DeitY.

Aakash Tablets

Aakash tablet has gone through multiple phases, the first phase was of a pilot implementation, which was under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for educational purposes and the second phase is that of deployment of Aakash tablets. C-DAC evolved the technical specifications of Aakash-IV tablets in association with IIT Bombay and IIT Madras and created an eco-structure for testing and certification of Aakash-IV tablets.
