Immersive AR-VR Bootcamps

In a pioneering initiative to cultivate a new generation of tech innovators, C-DAC Pune has successfully concluded a series of intensive Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) bootcamps. These rigorous five-day, 40-hour bootcamps were conducted at over 17 esteemed engineering colleges across Maharashtra and Goa, including prominent institutions in Pune, Sangli, Satara, and Nashik. Notable participating colleges include PICT Pune, MIT Pune, Walchand College of Engineering Sangli, Padre College of Engineering Goa, among several others

The comprehensive curriculum covered foundational topics such as Unity development, AR foundation, VR simulations, 3D interactions, and immersive content creation. The immersive nature of the bootcamps was a key highlight, as participants were able to translate theoretical knowledge into practical applications. A significant number of students successfully developed their first basic AR applications, transforming abstract concepts into tangible, working demos. This practical experience not only honed their technical skills but also provided a major boost to their confidence and creativity.

Led by C-DAC Pune's AR/VR team along with industry professionals, the sessions combined practical learning with real-world insights, students showcased innovative ideas and prototypes - ranging from AR in education and healthcare to industry training and cultural preservation.

The ripple effect of C-DAC's awareness programmes is reshaping academia. Fuelled by the success of the bootcamps, colleges are now pioneering their own Centre of Excellence in Extended Reality (XR) at Wadia College, PICT, MIT, among several others and student clubs at VIT, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Trinity College, Indira College among several others are established following the AR-VR awareness initiatives, bringing significant benefits to both the institutions and students detailed as below:

  1. Hands-On Learning: Students get practical experience with AR/VR tools, software, and real-world projects - going beyond textbook learning.
  2. Innovation & Creativity: Both CoEs and clubs encourage students to explore new ideas, build prototypes, and develop innovative AR/VR solutions.
  3. Access to Resources: Students gain access to advanced equipment, labs, mentorship, and expert guidance that support deeper learning and experimentation.
  4. Career Readiness: Training and exposure to industry trends prepare students for jobs in gaming, healthcare, education, design, and other AR/VR-driven fields.
  5. Collaboration & Teamwork: Student clubs foster teamwork, leadership, and communication skills through group projects, competitions, and hackathons.
  6. Exposure to Industry: CoEs often collaborate with industry experts, offering workshops, internships, and networking opportunities.
  7. Entrepreneurial Support: Students with product ideas can get support through the CoE to build, test, and pitch their AR/VR solutions.
  8. Community Building: Clubs create a sense of belonging and shared purpose, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and sustained interest in AR/VR technologies.
  9. These efforts align closely with the vision and mission of C-DAC and MeitY, fostering innovation, skill development, and technological advancement.

With more than 16 bootcamp batches completed and over 1,750+ students trained, this initiative marks a proud milestone for the FS Prime AR-VR Team. Beyond just training, these bootcamps are helping shape a future-ready talent pool and spreading awareness about how AR-VR can transform industries and careers.
