C-DAC Mohali organized a two-day demonstration workshop on May 6thβ7th, 2026, to showcase the practical implementation of a deception-based security solution designed for power utilities. The workshop was attended by officials from the Ministry of Power, sectoral CERTs representing power sector organizations, user agencies, and academicians from relevant domains.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri V.K. Sharma, Centre Head, Mohali, who represented the Centre along with members of the Cyber Security Technology Division (CSTD) team.He gave the opening remarks and felicitated all the guests with appreciation souvenirs. Shri Saurabh Chamotrapresented a brief about the research and development activities,particularly in the cybersecurity domain, carried out at the Centre. He emphasized upon the fact that power, telecom and other relevant sectors were critical infrastructure and needed to be safeguarded on priority. He cited examples from global level power sector attacks and explained how such incidents could shake an entire nation.
Dr. Faruk Kazi Professor of Electrical Engineering and Dean of R&D at VJTI, Mumbai who is a prominent expert in cyber physical systems, industrial control system (ICS) security and smart grids concurred with the cybersecurity initiatives being taken by C-DAC, Mohali Centre.
Dr. Ferdous Ahmed Barbhuiya, Professor Computer Sciences and Engineering Department at IIIT, Guwahati was also present. With his expertise in intrusion detection systems (IDS), cyber-physical systems and IoT devices, said that such initiatives were the need of the hour. He commendedhow the research and development at C-DAC was entirely organic and indigenous. He mentioned that he was aware of the remarkable technical advancements being carried out at C-DAC and their impact at the national level.
Dr. Sarasij Das, Assoc. Professor Department of Electrical Engineering at IISc, Bengaluru commended the CSTD team and shared his valuable opinion about practical aspects of developments under cybersecurity domain and how it could strengthen the critical power infrastructure at the national level.

Shri T Srinivas, Director Grid India, New Delhi and Shri A.B. Sengupta, GM and CISO Grid India were also present and expressed their interest in collaborating with C-DAC for various power domain projects. They also showed their intent towards supportingsuch deployments and provide full support and sharing insights as and when required. On the 2nd day of the demonstration workshop, CSTD, Head of Department Shri Navdeep Singh Chahal also addressed the guests and thanked them for their valuable time and strategic technical inputs and making the workshop a success. He along with his team also demonstrated C-DAC Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution developed indigenously at C-DAC, Mohali. He briefed about the successful deployments of C-DAC SIEM at other C-DAC locations and various national setups.
Members from CSTD team Shri Anil Kumar, Shri Jaspal Singh Saib, Shri Yasharth Singh, Shri Ankit Dhere, Shri Vinay Kumar, Shri Vivek Jaiswal, Ms. Triveni and Ms. Piyali Dutta, Shri Shivansh Mishra, Shri Jibran presented demonstrations of various modules under the deception solution being developed at C-DAC, Mohali.
The workshop concluded with encouraging feedback from all attendees, who expressed their willingness to contribute to and support the cybersecurity research and development activities at C-DAC Mohali, both presently and in the future.
