C-DAC Mohali is pleased to announce the soft launch of the IndiaAIDatalab, unveiled during the curtain raiser of the AI Impact Summit 2026 on September 18th, 2025, in New Delhi. The Hon'ble Minister of Electronics & IT, Shri. Ashwini Vaishnaw, formally launched 30 IndiaAIDatalabs nationwide, including the one at C-DAC Mohali, established in collaboration with Intel Corporation India under the IndiaAI Mission.
The journey began in September 2024, when Shri. Abhishek Singh, IAS, Additional Secretary, MeitY, and Smt. Kavita Bhatia, Scientist G, AI & Emerging Technologies MeitY, visited C-DAC Mohali and expressed keen interest in setting up the Data Lab to upskill the current and future AI workforce. In response, C-DAC Mohali allocated dedicated lab space and infrastructure, while Intel provided advanced computer and IT facilities. Subsequently, a Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement (CNDA) and License Agreement were signed to enable training delivery using Intel's Digital Readiness Programmes.
After deliberations with Intel, two flagship courses were identified for the first year:
- AI for Cybersecurity
- Applied Ethics for AI
Also, C-DAC nominated facilitators successfully completed Intel's online training and assessment, ensuring readiness to roll out the programmes.
In the past three months, the IndiaAIDatalab at Mohali has trained 75+ participants, including students, professionals, and government officials. Going forward, the Datalab will expand its portfolio with foundation-level AI courses, training for data annotators/curators, and research focus across Cybersecurity, Ethics, Healthcare, and Industry 4.0.
With this milestone, C-DAC Mohali is set to play a pivotal role in shaping India's AI talent ecosystem and accelerating the nation's AI-driven growth story.
