C-DAC to launch several programs on its 36 Foundation Day

On the occasion, eminent personalities will address the audience at the event. All centres of C-DAC have organised similar engagements to commemorate the foundation day

As part of its 36th Foundation Day, C-DAC will be launching several indigenously developed products and solutions on March 22. On the occasion, eminent personalities will address the audience at the event. All centres of C-DAC have organised similar engagements to commemorate the foundation day.

"Forest Fire Spread Simulation System using high-performance computing is based on an open-source coupled atmosphere-wildfire model. Using the parameters acquired from satellite or provided by the forest officials on the ground, the modelling framework can provide a potential fire spread area up to the next 48 hours. This will be helpful for disaster management authorities in mitigation planning to safeguard lives and properties,” said Col A K Nath (retd), executive director of C-DAC in Pune.

"The online software security course will focus on writing resilient software and is applicable to all software engineers. Experiential learning takes the form of videos, lab experiments, and evaluation, and it is supplemented by mentoring," he went on to say.

The Critical Infrastructure (CI) security training kit provides users with a realistic environment in which to learn about SCADA attacks. Users who have been trained on this kit can construct the necessary network topology and carry out attack scenarios involving software applications for controlling industrial processes.

"It is embedded with necessary simulated components such as Remote terminal units (RTUs), Programmable logic controllers (PLCs), switches, firewalls, and so on that run over single board computers and communicate via SCADA protocols," Col Nath explained.

In line with Atmanirbhar Bharat, E Magesh, director general, C-DAC says academia, R&D institutes, key user departments in ministries, start-ups and industry should join hands for developing products, and solutions of national relevance for the benefit of mankind.
