C-DAC scientists selected for Vasvik Research Award

Prof Rajat Moona, Director General, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing
(C-DAC) and Dr Pradeep K Sinha, Senior Director (High performance Computing and R&;D), C-DAC have been selected for the prestigious Vasvik Research Award for their remarkable contributions in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The awards will be presented to Prof Moona and Dr. Sinha for the year 2010 and 2011 respectively.
"This is a proud moment for me, and I would like to share the joy and credit with all my colleagues at C_DAC who have supported me unconditionally in taking the organization forward. The award is also a reaffirmation of our faith in indigenous technology development and innovation that has always been the mainstay of our roadmap", Moona said in a release.
Prof Moona along with his students and the National Informatics Centre, has defined the Key Management System and layout of data in smart cards used by various government departments.
He is also involved in defining the applications of the RFID applications in areas such as electronic toll collection. The research area of Prof Moona spans Embedded Computing, Computer Security, VLSI Design, Operating Systems and High Performance Computing.
