Brief Description

e-Saadhya (Saral Anukulaney Adhyayan), an adaptable and accessible e-learning software framework designed to meet the learning needs of children with autism and mild intellectual disabilities. This framework supports various stakeholders, including special educators, parents, rehabilitation teams, and Children with Special Needs (CwSN).

 

The e-Saadhya software automates key processes used in special schools, such as child assessment, the creation of individualized learning plans, and lesson delivery. A unique feature of e-Saadhya is its integration of standard diagnostic and special educational assessment checklists, along with proven teaching methodologies such as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Discrete Trial Training (DTT), using audio-visual prompts and reinforcements. The child learning environment encompasses engaging features such as interactive lessons, quizzes, and fun learning activities, all presented in a user-friendly interface with cognitive accessibility features, audio-video navigational guidance, and voice support. e-Saadhya currently supports Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, enabling its effective use across India for training special educators and supporting CwSN. It has already been deployed in 15 states in collaboration with National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID Formerly National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped) Headquarters, Secunderabad, and continues to expand.

The Salient features of e-Saadhya are:

1.    Adaptable and Accessible e-Learning environment that adapts to the educational needs of children with cognitive disability.

2.    Indigenous e-learning platform for entire process flow involving children profiling, assessment, interventions, and evaluation.

3.    e-Saadhya is available in 3 Indian languages: Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and English. 

4.    The framework encompasses various modules like child profiling, Screening module(ISAA, Compute, Sensory, reinforcement), assessment module (FACP, GLAD, MDPS, AARAMB, and School specific assessments), Individualized Educational Planning (IEP) module, Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) module, Rendering and evaluation module, Utility support and Decision Support System (DSS) module

5.    The framework provides both receptive and expressive modes of teaching/learning through Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA’s), Discrete Trial Training (DTT) based lessons, and quizzes. 

6.    The framework supports the creation of education plans for individuals based on profile information of individuals and monitoring the status of the individuals towards the education plans

7.    Audiovisual prompts for teaching the individual, and suitable reinforcements in music, videos, and games are provided to increase user engagement, motivation, and sustainability.

8.    Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) standard 2.0 complaint.
