Bioinformatics Research and Applications Facility (BRAF)
The Bioinformatics Research and Applications Facility (BRAF)
Brief Description
The Bioinformatics Research and Applications Facility (BRAF) at C-DAC delivers a platform for all scientists and engineers to advance their computational research using the PARAM BioEmbryo HPC cluster under the umbrella of the National Supercomputing Mission.
PARAM BioEmbryo is an addition to the armory of BRAF and is a small step in this mission of fighting major disease outbreaks/epidemics using modern technology and traditional medicine.
Use Cases
The benchmarking results at BioEmbryo have shown that it can compute the molecular dynamics simulation approximately 5 times more efficiently.
Salient Features
The facility is equipped with the latest genomics and molecular dynamics bioinformatics tools for docking, molecular simulation, next-generation sequencing, and genome analysis.
This powerful machine provides a tremendous boost to the life science community, and the Bioinformatics Research and Applications Facility (BRAF) at C-DAC offers a platform for all scientists and engineers to advance their computational research using the PARAM BioEmbryo HPC cluster under the umbrella of the National Supercomputing Mission.
PARAM BioEmbryo is a significant addition to the armory of BRAF and represents a crucial step towards fighting major disease outbreaks and epidemics using modern technology and traditional medicine.
Technical Specifications
PARAM BioEmbryo aims to achieve the goal of accelerated drug development research.
This cluster is a 100 teraflop machine with a computing architecture having CPU: GPU in the 70:30 ratio.
It has 20 nodes, each with 500GB of primary memory. BioEmbryo is organized with 16 CPU nodes (AMD Rome) and 4 GPU nodes (V100) with each node being a dual-socket, having 32 cores.
The BioEmbryo has a storage capacity of 200 TeraBytes and an EDR Infiniband System Area Network that ensures fast and efficient data transfer.
