Centre for HPC Upskilling and Knowledge-sharing (C-HUK)
C-DAC Bangalore’s C-HUK trains SC, ST, and Women in HPC, AI, and Cybersecurity under NSM by MeitY.
Brief Description
C-DAC Bangalore, under the aegis of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India has launched a significant initiative—the Centre for HPC Upskilling and Knowledge-sharing (C-HUK). This initiative is part of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), with a focused aim to empower individuals from the SC-ST communities and women by providing specialized training in High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Embedded Systems, and Cyber Security. The primary goal of C-HUK is to bridge the skill gap and ensure greater inclusivity in advanced technical fields by offering targeted training programs. Through raising public awareness, the Centre actively engages with candidates from marginalized communities, particularly SC-ST and women, encouraging them to explore the opportunities within these cutting-edge domains. The Centre then provides access to key resources and educational tools to help participants build proficiency in HPC and related technologies, fostering their technical growth and enhancing their career prospects.
C-HUK offers two primary types of training programs:
1. Advanced Certification Course: These are comprehensive 6-month courses designed to deeply equip participants with practical and theoretical knowledge in areas such as HPC- AI and HPC-cybersecurity. As of December,2024, 143 students have successfully graduated from this course, enhancing their skill sets and employment prospects in high-demand technical fields. The third batch of the 6-month Advanced Certificate Course commenced on 2nd September, 2024 at the Bangalore and Guwahati centres with 97 students currently enrolled.
2.Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs): These are intensive 5-day workshops aimed at upskilling faculty members from various educational institutions across India. The FDPs focus on equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to train the next generation of students in advanced technology fields.C-HUK has successfully conducted eleven such FDPs, training 249 faculty members from 18 different states across the country. Through these programs, C-HUK is creating a strong foundation for fostering technical excellence and inclusivity, enabling participants to thrive in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
