eVoting application bags the “Technology Sabha Award 2022” under the “Blockchain” category

The “Blockchain enabled eVoting application” has bagged the “Technology Sabha Award 2022” under the “Blockchain” category, for the innovative use of Blockchain technology to offer distinct benefits to the stakeholders in Telangana.

The award, instituted by the Express Group, was received by the representatives of ITE&C Department of Telangana during the 32nd edition of Technology Sabha (eGovernance Summit) held during August 25-27, 2022 at Kolkata, West Bengal

The eVoting application is designed and developed by C-DAC and funded by the ITE&C Department of Telangana and the Telangana State Election Commission under the expert guidance of Prof. Rajat Moona (IIT Bhilai) and Prof. G. Sivakumar (IIT, Bombay).

Acclaimed to be the country’s first smartphone based eVoting solution, the application leverages emerging technologies such as Blockchain, Face Recognition and Artificial Intelligence. It offers a secure, transparent and user-friendly eVoting system for the citizens, especially those who may face challenges with physical voting, with or without COIVD pandemic.

A successful dry run of the developed application was completed during 2021 at Khammam Urban Municipality, Telangana. The user feedback has been positive and encouraging and several other states have evinced interest in its implementation.
