C-DAC Mohali successfully executed a specialized training programme entitled "VLSI Chip Design: Sand to Silicon" from December 4th to 16th, 2024. Under the auspices of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, this comprehensive course catered to 15 participants hailing from nine diverse nations, including Myanmar, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Ghana, Mauritius, Argentina, Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe. Shri. V.K Sharma, Centre Head of C-DAC Mohali, warmly welcomed the participants and engaged in a productive interaction on the inaugural day of the program.
The training programme, led by Dr. Balwinder Singh, Head of the Academic and Consultancy Division, alongside Dr. Manjit Kaur (ITEC Coordinator), Ms. Soniya, Dr. Komal, Ms. Kareena Yadav, Shri. Pawan Srivastava, Shri. Mohit Mishra, and Ms. Nikita, provided participants with engaging and interactive sessions on Digital and Analog Electronics. The curriculum encompassed various VLSI Design concepts, including both Digital and Analog Electronics. It explored topics such as Verilog HDL, Combinational Logic, Sequential Circuits, Logic Gates, FPGA, and practical implementation of codes on FPGA kits. Extending beyond the academic curriculum, participants were afforded the opportunity to engage in a cultural tour of Amritsar. This enriching experience encompassed visits to iconic landmarks such as the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh, offering a deeper appreciation for India's rich cultural heritage.
A valedictory ceremony was held on December 16th, 2024, to commemorate the successful completion of the course and acknowledge the contributions of all participants and organizers. The event commenced with Dr. Manjit Kaur's welcome address and Dr. Balwinder Singh's valedictory address, who commended the participants for their dedication and emphasized the programme's focus on VLSI Chip Design.
This was followed by an inspiring address from the Chief Guest, Dr. Prerna Kalra, Co-Founder & CEO of HanuAI, who provided valuable insights into India's role in sharing knowledge globally across various domains, including Electronics, VLSI Design, Artificial Intelligence, and more, particularly with countries in need of such expertise
Shri. Ajay Mudgil, Head of the Education & Training Division, also congratulated the participants on completing the training. The ceremony concluded with Shri. Kuldeep Dwivedi, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Dr. Prerna Kalra and Shri. Ajay Mudgil presenting certificates to the participants, marking the successful completion of the programme.
