C-DAC Kolkata hosted a Kick-off Meet on 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing on January 27th, 2025, at The Sonnet, Kolkata. The event was supported by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Smt. Tulika Pandey, Scientist G and Group Coordinator, HRD, MeitY, graced the Kick-off Meet as Chief Guest, where she outlined her strategic vision for embedding 3D printing within academia to drive innovation and bridge the research-industry divide.Prof. Tapas Chakraborty, Vice-Chancellor, MAKAUT, Government of West Bengal and Prof. P. M. Pandey, IHFC Chair and Professor at IIT Delhi were guests of honor and shared their insights on this emerging technology.
A number of prominent dignitaries added prestige to the event, including Dr. Partha Pratim Lahiri, Registrar, MAKAUT, Govt. of West Bengal; Prof. Amitava Nag, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Central Institute of Technology, Assam; Shri Sanjeet Kumar, Industry Expert and DGM at SANDHAR; Prof. (Dr.) Gaurab Ranjan Chaudhury, AIIMS, Kalyani; Dr. Ch A S Murty, Scientist G, CISO & Director, C-DAC Kolkata; and Shri Asit Kumar Singh, Chief Investigator of the Project, C-DAC Kolkata.



Dr. P. M. Pandeysaid "Additive manufacturing has emerged as one of the most disruptive technologies in the current manufacturing landscape. In the context of the latest manufacturing advancements-Industry 4.0 and even Industry 5.0-this technology plays a pivotal role."
Dr. Ch A S Murty said, "This initiative is a crucial step in bridging the gap between academia and industry, empowering the next generation of engineers with skills that will shape the future of technology.The workshop was very engaging and interactive and was appreciated by the attendees.
