Advancing IoT Innovation through Capacity Building

C-DAC Delhi successfully conducted a week-long online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Developing Smart Solutions using Internet of Things (IoT)" from June17th to 23rd, 2026. The programme aimed to equip faculty members, researchers, students, scientists, and industry professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to design and develop intelligent IoT-based solutions for real-world applications. It also sought to strengthen participants' understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies and the role of IoT in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and smart cities.

The FDP covered key IoT concepts through a blend of theory and practical learning. The sessions included Introduction to IoT and Applications, Arduino IDE and Microcontroller Programming, Sensor and Actuator Integration, IoT Communication and Application Protocols, IoT Cloud Platforms, Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and Data Analytics for IoT. Interactive lectures, live demonstrations, hands-on programming exercises, and practical case studies enabled participants to understand the complete process of developing smart connected systems.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 19 faculty members, researchers, students, scientists, and industry professionals representing universities, engineering colleges, research institutions, and industries across India. The active involvement of participants during technical discussions and practical sessions created a highly engaging learning environment.

The FDP was conducted under the guidance of Shri Jitendra Singh, Scientist G & Centre Head, C-DAC Delhi. The programme was coordinated by Shri Devadatta Sasmala, Scientist F & Group Head – IoT, C-DAC Delhi, who also delivered the technical sessions on emerging IoT technologies and their industrial applications. Shri Apoorva Kohli, Scientist E & Group Head – ACTS, C-DAC Delhi, co-coordinated the programme and highlighted C-DAC Delhi's commitment to capacity building through industry-oriented technical education.

During the inaugural session, the organizing team welcomed the participants and highlighted the growing importance of IoT in digital transformation. Shri Kohli emphasized C-DAC Delhi's commitment to developing industry-ready professionals through specialized technical training. Shri Jitendra Singh encouraged participants to continuously upgrade their skills in emerging technologies such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems, and Cyber-Physical Systems, and contribute to innovation and indigenous technology development.

The Valedictory Ceremony was held on June23rd, 2026, during which participants were felicitated for successfully completing the programme. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to the Centre Head, coordinators, resource persons, participants, and the organizing team for their valuable support.

The FDP received excellent feedback for its well-structured curriculum, practical orientation, and interactive learning approach. Participants appreciated the balance of theoretical concepts and hands-on sessions, which enhanced their understanding of IoT technologies and their ability to develop innovative solutions for academic research and industrial applications. The programme successfully strengthened participants' technical competencies and reaffirmed C-DAC Delhi's commitment to capacity building in emerging technologies.
