Building a Cyber-Aware Workforce

The Personnel Department, Divisional Office, Mumbai Central, Western Railway (Ministry of Railways), in association with C-DAC Mumbai, organized a three-day Cyber Security Training Programme for Railway staff onfrom February3rd – 5th,2026 at the Divisional Chief Ticket Inspector Office, Mumbai Division. The training program was attended by 35 staff members.

The inaugural session of the programme was graced by Shri Arun Sonawane, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer (DPO), Western Railwaywho emphasized the importance of cyber vigilance and safe digital practices in today’s increasingly connected environment.

The objective of the programme was to enhance cyber security awareness and promote safe digital practices among Railway personnel. The sessions covered key areas of cyber security, including Cyber Security Fundamentals, Emerging and Advanced Cyber Threats, Cybercrimes and Cyber Frauds, Social Engineering Attacks, Browser Security; Social Media Safety, Windows and Desktop Security, Mobile Security, Home and IoT Device Security, safe handling of official and sensitive information, Cyber Hygiene Best Practices,Incident Identification and Reporting, AI-driven Cyber Attacks, and an overview of the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.

The training programme was delivered by experts from C-DAC Mumbai, namely Shri Amol Suroshe, Programme Director, ShriBhanupratap Singh, ShriVikram Harke, ShriAshish Chaurasiya, ShriDivyansh Baghel, and Ms. Shahin Mankar.

The programme was conducted in an interactive manner with daily quiz assessments and recognition of winners, encouraging active participation and effective learning.

Participants were also sensitized about the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project and various initiatives undertaken under the programme to strengthen cyber security awareness at the national level.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session, which was graced by Shri Raghuveer Singh Shekhawat, Assistant Personnel Officer, Western Railway who appreciated the initiative and encouraged participants to apply the learnings in their professional and personal digital lives.

Such initiatives reflect Western Railway’s continued commitment to capacity building and strengthening cyber resilience across its workforce.
