A two-day training programme on "Information Security and Emerging Technologies" was conducted by the C-DAC Centre in North-East (CINE) for Border Security Force (BSF) officials from the Mizoram and Cachar Frontier headquarters. Held on January January 22th - 23th, 2025, the programme was part of the EPPGO project, which focuses on providing IT and cybersecurity training to police and government personnel in the North-East region.
The training programme commenced with an inaugural session featuring Shri Lakhminder Gill, Deputy Inspector General of the BSF's M&C Frontier Headquarters, as the chief guest. Also present were DIGs Shri Chau Pilon Mounglang, Shri Kulwinder Singh, and Shri Satish Kumar, along with Commandant Shri Pramod Prasad Nautiyal. Dr. Sanjay Aadiwal, Joint Director, C-DAC Bengaluru, provided an overview of C-DAC's vision and accomplishments. Shri Alok Dey, Administrative Officer, C-DAC CINE, explained the importance of the training and outlined its key areas of focus. C-DAC CINE presented a memento to the BSF in appreciation of their collaborative efforts.
BSF M&C Frontier Headquarters Inspector General Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra praised C-DAC's work and emphasized the critical role of cybersecurity in personal and professional life. He expressed his support for future collaborations and presented mementos to C-DAC representatives, including Dr. Sanjay Aadiwal and Shri Alok Dey, in recognition of their contributions to IT and cybersecurity. IG Mishra also presented a BSF memento of appreciation to Dr. Aadiwal and Shri Dey.
Dr. Sanjay Aadiwal and Shri. Harshvardhan Soni served as the trainers for the two-day programme.A total of 468 participants benefited from the training, with 288 BSF personnel attending in person and an additional 180 joining virtually. The curriculum encompassed critical topics in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technology, and Cybersecurity.
The sessions focused on the practical application of these technologies for securing data and operations within government functions. Interactive discussions facilitated the exchange of knowledge regarding countering cyber threats and effectively utilizing advanced technologies.
Participants praised the programme's relevance and practical approach, emphasizing the importance of staying current with digital security measures to protect government operations.
The programme's successful execution was supported by the C-DAC CINE team, including Shri Giridhari Sharma, Shri Sanjay Gorh, and Shri Rajkumar Singha. This joint initiative between C-DAC and the BSF highlights the crucial role of ongoing training in emerging technologies to address the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity challenges.
