C-DAC, Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), successfully conducted a four-day advanced training and certification programme on �Cyber Security for Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Domain� Level 1� from July 07th to 10th, 2025, at C-DAC, Hyderabad. This initiative was part of the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase-III by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), aiming to create a pool of skilled and certified cybersecurity professionals. The programme also supported the NAAT Audit and Assessment initiative and focused on building strong cybersecurity capabilities among CISOs, Deputy CISOs, and their teams across government and private organizations.
A total of 40 officers and cybersecurity professionals participated in this programme, representing a wide range of Private and public sector undertaking organizations including Securities and Exchange Board of India, Bank of India, Centre for Railway Information Systems, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Electronics Corporation of India Ltd., Reserve Bank of India, SBI Card Ltd., NJ India Invest Pvt. Ltd., GAIL India Ltd, HCL Tech, WIPRO, TCS, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Perfios Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, Indian Institute of ManagementBangalore, PowerGrid Corporation, New India Assurance, Christ University.
The training programme was designed to address the latest Information Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) domain challenges faced by the organizations. It covered key topics such as regulatory and compliance, governance and its challenges, information risk management, threat hunting and modelling, cross sector compliance, NIST framework. Participants were trained on threat modelling. Special emphasis was placed on enhancing resilience, incident response capabilities, and artificial intelligence in governance.
To ensure practical understanding, the programme included several hands-on table top exercise and open panel discussions such as real-time risk management and budgeting exercise, a tabletop simulation of incident response scenarios. These interactive sessions provided participants with real-world skills and practical experience to better manage cybersecurity threats within their organizations.
The lectures were delivered by experts from C-DAC Hyderabad, including Shri. Dheeraj Sadawarte, Shri. Harmesh Rana &Shri. Pratik Vibhandik. In addition, renowned cybersecurity leaders from the GRC domain such as Shri. Ananth (Lawyer & Technologist with 15+ years of cross-domain expertise in IT and Law) &Shri. Satyanarayana Gidugu (Qualified Independent Director CISA, CFE, CIA, CRISC, Cert in Cyber Sec., SMP -IIMC, APSL-IIM) shared their expertise and insights with the participants. The programme received active support and guidance from Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General of CERT-In, Shri. S.S. Sarma, Scientist G of CERT-In, Shri. V.V. Rao, Scientist E of CERT-In, Dr. Marshal R CERT-In, and was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Ch A.S. Murty, Scientist G and Group Head of ISS at CERT-In, along with other technical experts from C-DAC and CERT-In.
Overall, this training programme successfully strengthened the cybersecurity readiness of participants, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage advanced cyber threats and challenges faced at Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) domain. It represents a strong step forward in building a safer and more resilient digital ecosystem for the country.
