CMC Vellore Ink Research MoU

Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore and C-DAC Pune have entered into an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), active from July 24th, 2025. The agreement was signed by Dr. Solomon Sathishkumar, Principal, CMC Vellore, Shri. Sanjay Wandhekar Centre Head, C-DAC Pune, Prof. (Dr.) Balu Krishna S, Head, Radiation Oncology, CMC, and Ms. Lakshmi Panat, Scientist G & Programme Director, AI&QT Group, C-DAC Pune. This MoU will foster joint research projects, capacity building, knowledge dissemination through joint publications, and seeking fundsfor joint research activities.

Activities are already in full swing with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) awarding a three-year Oral Cancer research project to C-DAC and CMCVellore. This significant extramural research initiative will focus specifically on advancing oral cancer studies.

Christian Medical College (CMC) in Ranipet has taken a major stride in its research capabilities with the recent procurement and installation of the PARAM Shavak Supercomputer. The system, described as a "Supercomputer-in-a-box," was set up on campus on June 24, 2025, to provide high-performance computational power specifically for medical research. Shri. C.V. Deepu, a Scientist F from C-DAC Pune, conducted a technical demonstration, highlighting the advanced features of the PARAM Shavak. Following this, Dr. Hannah Mary Thomas, a Scientist at QIRAIL, CMC, provided a live demonstration of the supercomputer's practical application in radiotherapy.
