C-DAC Mumbai marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Centre for Next Generation Media Technologies at its Juhu Campus on April 6th, 2026. The centre was inaugurated by Shri Sudeep Shrivastava, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in the presence of Shri Aditya Kumar Sinha, Executive Director, C-DAC Mumbai.
The establishment of this centre reflects C-DAC’s continued commitment to advancing research and innovation in emerging domains such as immersive media, extended reality (AR/VR), metaverse and digital twin, artificial intelligence-driven content, and next-generation digital media technologies. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in developing indigenous solutions and fostering a robust ecosystem for media technologies.
During the inauguration, the dignitaries spoke about the importance of next-generation media in areas like education, healthcare, entertainment, maritime, and governance. They also highlighted the need for collaboration between academia, industry, and government to drive innovation and create useful solutions.
The centre is envisioned as a hub for cutting-edge research, skill development, and industry collaboration, enabling the development of scalable and future-ready media technologies. It will also support startups, researchers, and developers in building innovative applications aligned with national priorities.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior officials and staff members of C-DAC Mumbai, marking the beginning of a new chapter in advancing India’s leadership in next-generation media technologies.
