FHIR INDIA COMMUNITY MEET

July 26, 2025

On July 26, 2025, the National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS), designated as the Centre of Excellence for EHR Standards by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW), Government of India, successfully hosted the FHIR India Community Meet at C-DAC, Innovation Park, Pune.

Bringing together more than 80 professionals from across India-including health IT enthusiasts, clinicians, interoperability experts, and delegates from the National Health Authority (NHA) and HL7 India-this in-person event offered a crucial platform for engaging discussions on the implementation, adoption, and innovation of Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR).

In the context of India's EHR standards-driven digital health ecosystem, FHIR plays a pivotal role in digital transformation. Its adoption in national initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and the National Health Claim Exchange (NHCX) is critical for this. NRCeS has been instrumental in supporting and promoting FHIR to enable seamless healthcare data exchange and interoperability.

This successful Community Meet, which featured knowledge-sharing sessions, insights into FHIR's role in ABDM & NHCX, and demonstrations, signifies India's strong and growing dedication to implementing EHR standards and optimizing health data sharing to ultimately improve patient care.
