C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hydrographic Survey Wing (HSW), Department of Ports, Government of Kerala, on January 28th, 2025. The collaboration aims to develop indigenous hydrographic survey equipment's in alignment with the Government of India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, with a focus on self-reliance.The partnership will work towards developing reliable, modular, and cost-effective navigation equipment's and bathymetric survey solutions for strategic and commercial applications.
The MoU was signed by the Dr. Kalai Selvan A, Director, C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram, and Shri. Gerosh Kumar V, Chief Hydrographer, HSW Kerala, in presence of Shri K. S. Sreenivas IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Ports, Govt of Kerala. The event was attended by Shri Rajesh K R, ScientistG & Group Head-Strategic Electronics Group, Shri Harikrishnan C S, Scientist-E; Smt Jisha Joseph, Assistant Cartographer; Smt Niji K Babu, Assistant Marine Surveyor and Shri Aravind Ashok, Assistant Engineer(M).
MoU primarily focuses on indigenization of advanced hydrographic survey equipment, including implementation of autonomous surface vessels for survey applications, service &technical consultancy, provision of vessel platforms for development & testing, execution of collaborative projects and knowledge sharing, supporting cutting edge research and development in related fields.
This partnership will leverage their unique strengths to drive innovation and address critical challenges in these cutting-edge domains. This initiative will be a significant step toward self-reliance in marine technology, strengthening India's capability in advanced hydrographic surveys and navigation solutions.
