C-DAC Mohali successfully concluded two prestigious ITEC training programmes:Specialized Training on Quantum Computing and Information Science (QCIS) and Specialized Training on Data Science and Analyticsheld from March 29th to April 9th, 2025. Conducted under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, the training brought together 56 participants from 19 countries, fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange in cutting-edge technologies.
The Quantum Computing training programme at C-DAC Mohali was spearheaded by a dedicated team of experts led byDr. Gurmohan Singh, ScientistE with Dr. Manjit Kaur, ScientistE as the coordinator, Ms. Megha Kumari, SPE, Dr. Tarun, PE, and Ms. Sonali, PE were the other faculty members. Designed to bridge theory with real-world application, the programme offered a deep dive into the principles of quantum mechanics, covering essential topics such as linear algebra, quantum gates, circuits, and algorithms. Participants gained exposure to real-world Quantum Machine Learning use-cases, and the experience was further enriched with hands-on training using cutting-edge quantum circuit simulators, SDKs, and quantum programming libraries - equipping learners with both the knowledge and tools to navigate the evolving quantum landscape.
The Data Science training programme was conducted by the Education & Trainings Division under the supervision of Shri. Ajay Mudgil, ScientistE &HoD, with Ms. Nandita, PE serving as the Training Coordinator and core faculty member. The programme engaged participants through interactive sessions focused on Python and essential libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy. The curriculum encompassed key concepts in Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), including data visualization, machine learning techniques for pattern recognition and anomaly detection, and hypothesis formulation.
Beyond their academic engagements, the programme included a cultural immersion trip to Amritsar, allowing participants to witness India's rich heritage through visits to the significant sites of the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh.
As the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Ceremony held on April 9th, 2025, the event was graced by the presence of Shri. Viraj Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs. In his address, he lauded the global relevance of the ITEC programme, calling it "a shining example of India's commitment to capacity building and international cooperation across more than 160 nations." He commended the participants for their active engagement and urged them to serve as ambassadors of knowledge, sharing the insights gained during the training with their respective communities and countries. Shri. Singh also appreciated the efforts of C-DAC Mohali, stating, "The way C-DAC Mohali has conducted these specialised trainings-rich in content and practical relevance-is truly commendable and sets a benchmark for excellence."
Shri. V.K. Sharma, Scientist G and Centre Head of C-DAC Mohali, delivered an inspiring welcome address, highlighting the centre's key initiatives and the collaborative spirit that drove the programme's success. Following this, Dr. Manjit Kaur, ITEC Coordinator, provided an overview of the training modules, participant engagement, and the programme's positive outcomes.
The Course Completion Certificateswere presented by Chief Guest Shri. Viraj Singh and Shri. V.K. Sharma, while celebrating the achievements of all participants and marking the successful culmination of the training programmes.
Shri Ajay Mudgil, Head, Education & Training Division, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing deep gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs, as well as the dedicated teams from administration, finance, purchase, transport, and canteen, whose behind-the-scenes efforts made the programme seamless.A special acknowledgment was given to the ITEC Cell, whose members played a pivotal role in the flawless execution of the trainings - including Dr. Manjit Kaur, Ms. Amritpal Kaur, PTO & Assistant ITEC Coordinator, and Ms. Asha Rani, STO - for their tireless commitment and coordination throughout the programme.
