ITEC Training on Quantum Computing

Mohali

July 15, 2025

C-DAC Mohali successfully concluded a two-week intensive training programme titled "Quantum Computing - A Deep Dive (Concepts to Applications)" from July 2nd to 15th, 2025. Conducted under the auspices of the ITEC scheme and sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the programme attracted 30 international participants from 13 countries.

The training offered a thorough exploration of quantum mechanics, covering essential topics such as quantum gates, circuits, protocols, and algorithms. Participants were also introduced to emerging concepts in quantum machine learning, along with relevant use cases. In addition to theoretical learning, attendees gained practical experience through hands-on sessions with quantum circuit simulators, software development kits, and quantum programming libraries. To enrich their understanding of Indias heritage, a study tour was organized, including visits to the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.

A valedictory ceremony was held on July 15th, 2025, to mark the successful completion of the training programmes and to honor the contributions of the participants, faculty, and supporting staff. The ceremony began with a warm welcome note by Dr. Manjit Kaur, Scientist E and ITEC Coordinator. She highlighted the significance of the current year, noting that 2025 marks a monumental milestone being celebrated globally as the Quantum Yearto commemorate 100 years of quantum science and teaching. Reflecting on this remarkable legacy, it was noted that over the past century, quantum theory has not only transformed the field of science but has also reshaped our fundamental understanding of the universe. The knowledge and insights gained through this programme stand as a tribute to that enduring and profound legacy.

The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Preeti Bali, Head of the Software Technology Division at C-DAC Mohali, delivered an inspiring valedictory address. She encouraged participants to share the knowledge they had acquired in the emerging domain of quantum technology upon returning to their respective countries. Dr. Bali further urged them to leverage their newly gained skills to contribute to capacity building and upskilling initiatives in their home nations. She also motivated them to explore opportunities for submitting research proposals and initiating projects in this rapidly evolving and transformative field.

Dr. Bali also applauded the relentless efforts of the dynamic Quantum team, including Dr. Gurmohan Singh, Scientist E, Dr. Manjit Kaur, Scientist E, Dr. Tarun, PE, Ms. Sonali, PE, Ms. Megha Singh, SPE, and Shri. Anmol. Chief Guest specially acknowledged the ITEC Cell for their seamless coordination of boarding, lodging, study tours, and overall training execution, appreciating the contributions of Shri. Ajay Mudgil- Head, Education & Training, Dr. Manjit Kaur - ITEC Coordinator, Mrs. Amritpal Kaur, PTO, Mrs. Asha Rani, STO and Ms. Nandita, PE. The event concluded with the presentation of course completion certificates to all participants, marking the successful culmination of the training programme.
