On December 16th, 2024, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, launched KoshaSHRI, a Sanskrit Dictionary Article Authoring Tool (AAT), at the 5th anniversary celebration of the Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI) organized by the Department of Science and Technology at Mahika Hall, Prithvi Bhavan, New Delhi. The event was graced by other dignitaries including Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, DST; Dr. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH; Dr. Ravichandran, Secretary, MoES; and Dr. Rashmi Shukla, Head, SHRI Cell, DST.
KoshaSHRI - Sanskrit Dictionary Article Authoring Tool (AAT) powered by crowdsourcing framework helps creation of new articles in a collaborative manner. Article Authoring Tool is the specialized software to prepare the vocables and volumes of the Sanskrit dictionary and publish it online. This tool is developed by the HCDC Group of C-DAC, Pune in collaboration with Deccan College Post-graduate and Research Institute (Deemed to be University), Pune under the project "Digital Preservation and online Portal for Encyclopedic Sanskrit Dictionary", which is funded under SHRI scheme of DST.
Shri Nigod Dhurke, Scientist E & Principal Investigator (PI) of the Project; Shri Nitin Karale, Senior Project Engineer; and Shri Saurabh Koriya, Senior Project Engineer, who played a key role in the development of this tool, were present at the launch event. Shri Shashank Puntamkar Scientist G & Programme Coordinator HCDC Group, Shri Sudhir Patel, Principal Technical Officer -1 and Co-PI, Shri Sanjay Rabidas, Scientist E, and other team members also contributed significantly in the development.
