Kanthasth 3.0 Bahubhashi, a multilingual translation software, was unveiled at the Joint Regional Official Language Conference in Guwahati on March 5th, 2025. This alpha version, launched by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri. Nityanand Rai, and Members of Parliament Shri. Dilip Saikia and Smt. Bijuli Kalita Medhi.Kanthasth 3.0 Bahubhashi is developed for the Bhartiya Bhasha Anubhag, this software is a significant step toward promoting Indian languages and enhancing translation efficiency.
Kanthasth 3.0 Bahubhashi is designed to bridge the gap between Hindi and 15 Indian languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, representing the first languages of various states and Union Territories. It helps in promoting regional language usage and preserving India's linguistic heritage. The project is led by Dr. Shashi Pal Singh, Project Director, C-DAC, Pune, in collaboration with the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of fostering better coordination between Hindi and other Indian languages.
The software employs state-of-the-art technologies, such as Translation Memory (TM), Neural Machine Translation (NMT), and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). Additionally, it offers advanced features like File Format Retention, an Automated Chat Bot, Quality Check, and Bilingual File Download. These capabilities make translations between English and Indian languages faster and more accurate, benefiting users across various sectors.


With its innovative technology and comprehensive language support, Kanthasth 3.0 Bahubhashi is set to revolutionize multilingual communication in India. By making translations more accessible and efficient, it will empower individuals, businesses, and government institutions to work seamlessly across languages, strengthening linguistic inclusivity and national unity.
