KoshaSHRI: Sanskrits Digital Leap Forward

The KoshaSHRI - Sanskrit Encyclopaedic Dictionary Portal (https://koshashri-dc.ac.in) was dedicated to the nation by the Hon'ble Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, on July 29th, 2025. This significant event took place at the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and was graced by other esteemed dignitaries including Shri. Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Education & Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education & Development of North Eastern Region, along with Education Ministers from 13 States/UTs.

The KoshaSHRI software is developed by Human-Centred Design & Computing Group (HCDC), C-DAC Pune in collaboration with Deccan College Pune as a part of the project �Digital Preservation and Online Portal for Encyclopaedic Sanskrit Dictionary,� funded by Department of Science & Technology (DST) under Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI).

KoshaSHRI Sanskrit Encyclopaedic Dictionary portalcontains the vocables and volumes of the Sanskrit dictionary, which is useful for Sanskrit Scholars, dictionary experts, linguists, Indologists, students, public etc. These can be accessed by using references, citations, transliteration, grammatical categories, unique historical timeline for words, etc. using search features based on various filters and types.

HCDC, C-DAC Pune has developed technological solutions, such as the Article Authoring Tool (AAT) powered by a crowdsourcing framework that helps the creation of new articles in a collaborative manner and the Sanskrit Dictionary Editor tool (SDE), that helps in editing the articles are integrated in this portal. Also, the specialized Sanskrit Font (named as Koshashri) with various Vedic symbols & matching Roman diacritical & English characters along with typing keyboard tool is provided to the users. The portal is available for public access at https://koshashri-dc.ac.in/
