Launch of Multi-Lingual Translation System

On the occasion of Hindi Diwas 2025 and the Fifth All India Official Language Conference (Akhil Bhartiya RajbhashaSammelan), held on September 14th, 2025 at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Center, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the Multi-Lingual Translation System Bharati - BahubhashiAnuvadaSarthi and the Digital Dictionary Hindi Shabd-Sindhu were launched. The ceremony was graced by the Hon'ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Shri. Amit Shah Ji, who attended as the Chief Guest. Both initiatives have been developed for the Department of Official Language (DOL), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), by C-DAC, Pune.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Shri. Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister Shri. Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri. Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

Bharati Bahubhashi has been designed to bridge the gap between 15 major Indian languages, representing the first languages of various States and Union Territories. It combines Neural Machine Translation with Translation Memory, integrates Automatic Speech Recognition for voice-based interaction, and supports multiple file formats while retaining formatting for ease of use. A human-vetted process ensures that translations are accurate, reliable, and consistent.

Hindi Shabd-Sindhu is a comprehensive digital dictionary comprising more than seven lakh words across diverse domains such as mass communication, ayurveda, sports, space science, physics, chemistry, biology, aeronautics, computer science, electronics, geology, and humanities, available in major Indian languages.

On this special occasion, the Hon'ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Shri. Amit Shah Ji, felicitated key individuals for their exceptional contributions to the development of Bharati - BahubhashiAnuvadaSarthi. In recognition of their outstanding efforts, mementos were presented to Smt. Anshuli Arya (IAS), Secretary, Department of Official Language (DOL), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA); Dr. Meenakshi Jolly, Joint Secretary, DOL, MHA; Shri. Sanjay Wandhekar, Centre Head, C-DAC Pune; and Dr. Shashi Pal Singh, Scientist F and Project Director, Official Language Projects (OLP), C-DAC Pune.

The launch of these two initiatives reflects the Government of India's strong commitment to promoting Indian languages, preserving the nation's linguistic heritage, and enabling effective communication across regions. Together, Bharati Bahubhashi and Hindi Shabd-Sindhu mark a significant step towards realizing the vision of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat", where language serves as a bridge of unity and progress.
