A training session to demonstrate the capabilities and features of Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) System,a National Critical Infrastructure implemented and managed by C-DAC Mumbai, was conducted for Defence Personnel from eight Friendly Foreign Countries(FFCs) namely Bangladesh, Brunei, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Oman, Seychelles and Sri Lanka atLRIT National Data Centre inSagar-Manthan: Mercantile Marine Domain AwarenessCentre(MMDAC) Facility, Nav Bhavan,Mumbai on February22nd, 2025.
This training was a part of MRCC OPS & SAR Course under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India, which is being conducted for Defence Personnel of FFC by Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Mumbai.During the training functional capabilities and operations of Protected LRIT System in Marine Safety, Environment Protection and Search & Rescue in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) were demonstrated to the officials.
Officials from Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and C-DAC coordinated to complete this trainingsuccessfully. Capt. Porus Disawalla, In-charge, LRIT National Data Centre,was present from DGS. From C-DAC, Ms. Vibha Saroj along with her colleagues, Shri. Shahrukh Qureshi and Shri. Shubham Pawarwere present to ensure smooth and successful completion of the training.
