Drone Bootcamps under Project SwaYaan to Build Skilled Workforce

In a significant step towards strengthening India's drone ecosystem, C-DAC Patna has successfully conducted a series of intensive drone technology bootcamps under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology funded project "Capacity Building for Human Resource Development in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SwaYaan)".

The bootcamps, each spanning six days and 40 hours of focused training, were hosted at:

  1. Government Engineering College (GEC), Vaishali
  2. Motihari College of Engineering (MCE), Motihari
  3. Babu Banarasi Das Northern India Institute of Technology (BBDNIIT), Lucknow

Collectively, these programmes empowered over 120 students with hands-on expertise in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems and allied technologies. Participants gained practical skills in aerodynamics, drone assembly and piloting, programming and sensor integration, AI applications in drones, payload management, and mission planning.

Each session was led by C-DAC Patna experts in collaboration with seasoned industry professionals, ensuring a strong balance between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The programmes were designed to prepare students for both academic advancement and industry deployment in this rapidly growing sector.

A highlight of the bootcamps was the Idea Presentation Session on the final day, where participants showcased innovative drone-based solutions for pressing societal and industrial challenges. From disaster management concepts to precision agriculture solutions, these presentations reflected both creativity and technical competence.

These initiatives form part of C-DAC Patna's broader mission to contribute to India's strategic goal of becoming a global drone hub by 2030, as envisioned by the Government of India. By equipping young engineers with industry-relevant skills, C-DAC Patna is enabling a future-ready workforce capable of driving UAV innovations across multiple sectors.

C-DAC Patna extends its sincere appreciation to MeitY for funding and supporting the SwaYaan project, thereby enabling widespread awareness, accessibility, and adoption of drone technologies in the country.
