C-DAC Pune organized a technical workshop titled " Technical workshop on Quantum Entanglement: Generation to Application," where in-house quantum technology R&D was demonstrated live from the lab. The event, brought together prominent researchersand industry leaders from Pune.
The day commenced with a keynote address by Prof. R.P. Singh from the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, setting the tone for discussions on India's role in the global quantum revolution.
A panel discussion on "National Quantum Mission (NQM) and Quantum Education" followed, moderated by Ms. Lakshmi Panat, Scientist G and Programme Director - C-DAC, Pune. Experts including Prof. Umakant D. Rapol- IISER Pune, Prof. Subhadeep De - IUCAA Pune,and Dr. Dhiman Saha - IIT Bhilai shared insights on quantum education and the NQM.
The highlight of the event was a technical talk by Dr. Anindita Banerjee and her team, where in-house results on Quantum Entanglement generation, characterization and applicationwere presented. It was followed by live demonstration of B92 QKD free space & "programable single photonic qubit from single photon source using Type 1 SPDC using BBO Crystal". Further Quantum random numbers generated from entanglement were presented as a token to all the participants.
A second panel discussion, "Is India's Quantum Market Ready?", moderated by Ms. Savitha B Gowda, Scientist E, C-DAC featured industry leaders such as Shri. Nikhil Malhotra - Tech Mahindra, Shri. Nilesh Dhande - Fortytwo42 Technology, Shri. Jash Desai -NPCI, Col. Karthik - Corps of Signals, Shri. Aftab Memon - ESDS, Shri. Akhil Sawant -SDE and Dr. Pratik Chandrani - Tata Memorial Centre. The discussion provided valuable perspectives on how Indian businesses and industries can benefit from quantum technology.
The workshop's conclusion featured a lab visit with live demonstrations of entanglement generation and B92 quantum key distribution (QKD)
With India making significant strides in quantum research, the event reinforced the country's commitment to innovation and global collaboration in this transformative field.
