Strengthening the Quantum Ecosystem in the North-East

Assam Don Bosco University, Azara, Guwahati, organized the first Workshop on Quantum Computing, spearheaded by experts from C-DAC and IIT Guwahation January 30th, 2026. The initiative represents a key milestone in advancing frontier technologies across the North-East region. The one-day programme was structured to offer students, researchers, and professionals a hands-on and accessible introduction to Quantum Computing and Quantum Machine Learning, in response to the rapidly evolving domain of next-generation computing.

The workshop addressed core themes such as the fundamentals of quantum computing, quantum machine learning, practical quantum applications, quantum error correction, and experiential learning through quantum simulators including QSim and Qniverse.

Eminent experts from C-DAC and IIT Guwahati shared their insights, including Shri Jitesh Choudhary, Director & Centre Head, C-DAC CINE; Dr. Arun B. Aloshious, Assistant Professor, IIT Guwahati; Shri Vivek Nainwal, Joint Director & ScientistE, C-DAC Hyderabad; Shri Abhishek Tiwari, Associate Director & ScientistF, C-DAC Noida; Smt. Munmum Chakraborty, Joint Director & ScientistE, C-DAC Kolkata; and Shri Nagendra Singh, ScientistB, C-DAC CINE.

The initiative focused on demystifying quantum technologiesmaking them comprehensible, accessible, and application-driven for emerging innovatorswhile strengthening academia–industry convergence in frontier domains. The workshop witnessed strong engagement and was widely appreciated for its topical relevance, hands-on approach, and expert-led sessions.
