With the growing digital services, an increase in cyberattacks is also being witnessed in today's world. It has become important to focus on strategies and empowering concerned stakeholders (security architects, software developers, software testers, and project managers) about the best practices to be followed in the Software Development Lifecycle. Toward this direction, "A one-day seminar on Secure Software Development Lifecycle Practices - Towards Building Software with Security-by-Design Thinking" was organized by C-DAC (Hyderabad and CINE) and IIT Bhilaion March 21st, 2025, at The Assam Royal Global University, Guwahati to sensitize working professionals from the software field about the importance of adhering to Secure Software Development Lifecycle Practices.Around 67 participants from various organizations and academic institutes like ASSAC, Assam Don Bosco University, C-DAC, Codec, GSCL, LaikhutaTechnosoft, NIPER, STPI, IIT Guwahati etc., attended the seminar that covered a wide range of topics related to security practices in SDLC phases with speakers from Government and Industry.
The welcome address and inaugural address were delivered by Shri.Jitesh Choudhary Centre Head, C-DAC Silchar, and Prof Sukumar Nandi, IIT Guwahati respectively, both of whom highlighted the need for security as a shift left approachrather than as an afterthought.
Dr. P.R. Lakshmi Eswari, Scientist 'G' and Centre Head, C-DAC Hyderabad,delivered the theme address on the Cyber Threats in Software Development and the necessity for the Secure SDLC. In her talk she emphasized upon why Secure SDLC practices has become paramount importance in today's software development scenario and briefed the members about the highlights of the SSDLC certification programme and the topics being dealt.
Prof (Dr) Rama Rajan Bhattacharjee, Dean R&D, The Assam Royal Global University, delivered special address and shared his experiences with regard to cyberattacks and appreciated the initiative from C-DAC and IIT Bhilai about the SSDLC Certification programme that is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Shri.N Satyanarayana, Scientist 'E', C-DAC Hyderabad, delivered vote of thanks and briefed participants about the Secure Software Development Lifecycle Certificationdetails such as course curriculum, target audience, course completion requirements and certification examination.The event concluded successfully, with participants appreciating the diverse topics discussed and expressing interest in joining the certification programme.
