Scientists and Technologists Enhance Skills in Innovation and IP Management

C-DAC Mohali successfully concluded a one-week training programme on "Technology Innovation and Intellectual Property Management" from December 9th - 13th, 2024. Sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology under the National Programme for Training of Scientists & Technologists, the programme was attended by 25 participants (Senior Scientists, Technologists & Professors) representing 16 organizations, including BSNL, DRDO, NIAB, CSIR-URDIP, SCL, CMTI, NPC, NPL, ICFRE-HRI & AFRI, INST, CERT-In, AIIPMR, IISER, SPU, CU-Punjab, and PEC.

Dr Indu Pal Kaur, Professor-UIPS, Panjab University delivered the inaugural keynote address on "Role of IP to accelerate Innovation Driven Development."

The comprehensive curriculum featured a diverse faculty comprising internal experts and external speakers from academia, industry, and leading Intellectual Property and technology transfer firms. Sessions covered a wide range of topics, including technology innovation, IP asset management, emerging trends in IP, IP utilization strategies, and the challenges posed by new and emerging technologies on intellectual property rights. The programme incorporated interactive lectures, engaging role-play-based group activities, and a study visit to XLSCOUT, an innovative IP firm. Participants also enjoyed a short city tour. This immersive experience provided valuable opportunities for networking with fellow participants and gaining in-depth knowledge of IP management from renowned domain experts.

Shri VK Sharma, Scientist G & Centre Head, C-DAC Mohali interacted with the participants wherein he stressed on the importance of Technology Innovation& Collaboration in current scenario.

The course concluded with a valedictory ceremony that was attended Shri Nirbhai Singh, Deputy Secretary (Vigilance), DST, New Delhi and a keynote address on "Innovation and IP Management-Way Forward for Scientists &Technologists" was delivered by Dr Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, JD & Head - Research and Start-up Facilitation Division, and In-charge, PIC & TISC, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh.The participants were appreciative of the range of knowledge they gained through the programme.
