ICT for Weavers: TechWeave 2025 Highlights

ICTThe two-day workshop, "TechWeave - 2025, ICT for Livelihood," designed to enhance the entrepreneurial and employment prospects of weavers and artisans in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Assam, was successfully conducted by C-DAC Kolkata. Funded by MeitY, Govt. of India, this event, part of the "Capacity Building Programme using ICT Tools & Technology to Enhance Livelihood of Weavers/Artisans of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Assam" project, took place at the Handloom Training Institute, Mushalpur, Baksa, Assam, on February 27th-28th, 2025.

The inaugural session featured addresses by Ms. Hiranya Devi, CHD, Handloom & Textiles, BTC, Assam, Shri. Asit Kumar Singh, Chief Investigator, C-DAC, Kolkata and Shri. Dhananjay Basumatary, Hon'ble EM, BTC, Assam. Key sessions included insights from Shri. Kirat Brahma on design opportunities in Handloom & Textiles sector.

The valedictory session was graced by Ms. Tulika Pandey, Scientist G & GC (HRD), MeitY, Shri. Gautam Das, DC, Baksa, Shri. S. Bandyopadhyay, Zonal Director (E), WSC, Ministry of Textiles, Shri. D. N. Hazarika, Addl. Secretary, Govt. of Assam, and Dr. Ch. A S Murty, Scientist G & Centre Head, C-DAC Kolkata.The event was graced by the presence and insightful contributions of distinguished figures, including the General Manager of NABARD, the Director of IIE, the Chairman of MSME, Bharat Chamber of Commerce, the Director of IIHT, and the Principal of SIFT.

Stakeholders unanimously expressed their appreciation and gratitude to MeitY, Government of India, for their support of C-DAC Kolkata's impactful initiatives. They also pledged a collective commitment to expand this initiative to a global scale.

Beneficiaries who demonstrated exceptional performance were awarded, and contributors were recognized for their work in conducting the "Safer Internet Day-2025" workshop under the ISEA initiative.The workshop culminated in a productive meeting between the Group Coordinator (HRD), MeitY, Government of India, and the Hon'ble Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Principal Secretary of BTC, Assam, whose valuable insights were instrumental in the event's success.A vote of thanks was delivered by the Asst.
