We are currently living in a world where the internet has become an essential part of our daily lives. However, this digital landscape also brings with it a wide range of threats, sophisticated cyber-attacks, and growing concerns about the security and privacy of the information we store online. Many ordinary citizens are falling victim to online fraudsters and cybercriminals. To tackle this pressing issue, raising cyber awareness among digital citizens is the most effective way to protect them.
Keeping this in view, Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project in collaboration with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University APJAKTU, Lucknow organized the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Safety and Security Awareness week from December19th to 24th, 2025with support from Uttar Pradesh State Police Department.
The awareness week activities were as follows:
- Releasing of Cyber Security Awareness material in Hindi language i.e. Hand book, Posters, Stickers
- Conduct Cyber Awareness workshops at community centres, schools, colleges, Government offices in Uttar Pradesh state
- Road shows and rally with students to create awareness on cyber safety
- Releasing of Quiz on Cyber Hygiene Practices
The programme was inaugurated on December 19, 2024, at the Visvesvaraya Hall of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (APJAKTU) in Lucknow. The event was attended by over 620 participants, including police officers from more than 48 districts.
The inauguration began with the Saraswati Vandana, followed by the lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries on the dais.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mishra, Dean of the Innovation Hub at APJAKTU, Lucknow, who extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and participants from across Uttar Pradesh.
Following this, Shri. Jagadish Babu, Project Manager of ISEA at C-DAC, Hyderabad highlighted the importance of cybersecurity awareness, the current cybercrime landscape, the efforts of ISEA in this domain, and the need for collaboration to organize large-scale events like the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Safety and Security Awareness initiative.
Collaboration between institutions, law enforcement, and the government is essential to combat evolving cyber threats. Awareness and education are our strongest defenses against cybercrime", emphasised Prof. Triveni Singh.Other dignitaries, Shri. Keshav Singh, Finance Officer, and Smt. Shrivastav, Dean of Placement, from APJAKTU also addressed the gathering and shared their experiences in the cybersecurity domain.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey, APJAKTU addressed the gathering by highlighting the growing importance of cyber security in today's digital world. He emphasized the real-time need for cyber awareness, especially as technology increases exposure to threats. He highlighted the vulnerability of educated individuals due to a lack of awareness and discussed how cyber criminals uses psychological tactics, similar to those used in student training. The Vice Chancellor also touched on the rapid growth of digital platforms like UPI, which increases national exposure to cyber risks, and the evolving role of technology in warfare (e.g., drones replacing fighter planes). The VC thanked ISEA, MeitY for organizing the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Safety & Security Awareness Week and acknowledged the contributions of C-DAC in technological advancements.
Shri. BINOD K. SINGH IPS, Additional Director General - Cybercrime, Uttar Pradesh Police department welcomed the participants and acknowledges the vision of MeitY in addressing technological challenges. He commended ISEA for integrating cyber security efforts at the ground level. He went on to say that the initiative introduced by MeiTY through ISEA is invaluable, as it unites efforts at the grassroots level across various units, ensuring a unified approach to addressing cybersecurity challenges. In the world of crime, we must always stay one step ahead. Criminals operate on the principle of survival of the fittest, adapting their tactics as technology evolves to exploit vulnerabilities. When we are unprepared, our systems become vulnerable to attack. The ADG emphasized the importance of staying ahead of cybercriminals, noting that technology's rapid pace necessitates constant preparedness. He discussed the dual aspects of crime and security, explaining that crime affects individuals, while security impacts entire systems. The ADG urged citizens to take responsibility and contribute to the nation's cyber defense. He concluded by urging students to adopt the motto "In the Service of the Nation" and contribute whenever required.
The awareness week activities featured the release of awareness handbooks, posters, stickers, and a quiz, all unveiled by the dignitaries on the dais.
The Cyber Walkathon and NukkadNataks were organized to raise awareness among various users. The Walkathon was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri. Binod K. Singh IPS, Additional Director General of Cybercrime in the Uttar Pradesh Police, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey of APJAKTU, in the presence of other dignitaries.
146 awareness workshops were organised by covering 19,381 participants across 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh as part of Uttar Pradesh Cyber Safety and Security Awareness week -2024.
