On the occasion of World Health Day, the Public Health Department of the Government of Maharashtra marked a significant milestone by inaugurating the expansion of the e-Sushrut Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) with 101 new health facilities, across the state. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Mumbai, and was graced by the Hon'ble Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Shri. Ram Shinde, along with the Hon'ble Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare, Shri. Prakash Abitakar.
The e-Sushrut HMIS programme, which began in State of Maharashtra with 2 pilot hospitals implementation,has steadily scaled up to 847 Health Facilities to transform the digital landscape of the public health system in the state. In its next phase,the state is moving towards implementing the e-Sushrut HMIS in another 1,921 new health facilities covering overall 2667 health facilities which includes Primary Health Centres (PHCs), across all districts in State of Maharashtra.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon'ble Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare State of Maharashtra Shri. Prakash Abitakar emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making in the healthcare sector. The Hon'ble Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Shri. Ram Shinde, underscored the relevance of introducing such initiatives on the occasion of World Health Day, thereby demonstrating the state's unwavering focus on public health progress.
The expansion of e-Sushrut HMIS is a major step forward in modernizing Maharashtra's healthcare delivery system and ensuring better patient care, health data management, and accessibility across urban and rural areas.
