C-DAC celebrates 36th Foundation Day with launch of innovative tech, products
C-DAC also launched Critical Infrastructure (CI) Security Training Kit.
C-DAC CELEBRATED its 36th Foundation Day recently by launching indigenously developed products and solutions like Forest Fire Spread Simulation System using High Performance Computing.
"With its first HPC mission in 1988 and subsequent delivery of PARAM series of supercomputers, C-DAC has been the forerunner of the ICT revolution in India. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) was established as a scientific society under the Union Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. The organisation has been moving ahead with the vision to emerge as the premier R&D institution for the design, development and deployment of world class electronics and IT solutions for economic and human advancement which the nation is looking upon to take it through the era of transformation," stated a press release.
As part of the celebrations, C-DAC made three new launches including Forest Fire Spread Simulation System using High Performance Computing. “HPC Forest Fire Spread Modelling Framework is based on an open-source coupled atmosphere-wildfire model. Using the parameters acquired from satellite or provided by the forest officials on the ground, the modelling framework can provide a potential fire spread area up to the next 48 hours. This will be helpful for disaster management authorities in mitigation planning so as to safeguard lives and properties,” the release said.
C-DAC also launched Online Course on Software Security. “The online course on ‘Software Security’ focuses on writing resilient software and is relevant to every software engineer. Experiential learning is in the form of videos, lab experiments, evaluation and is augmented with mentoring support,” officials said.
In line with Atmanirbhar Bharat, S E Magesh, Director General said, “C-DAC welcomes academia, R&D institutes, key user departments in ministries, start-ups and industry to join hands for developing products, solutions of national relevance for the benefit of mankind.
C-DAC also launched Critical Infrastructure (CI) Security Training Kit.
"The kit provides a realistic environment for users to understand attacks on the SCADA environment. Users trained on this kit can build the required network topology, and realize attack scenarios with respect to software applications for controlling industrial processes. It is embedded with necessary simulated components like Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), switches, firewalls etc running over single board computers communicating through SCADA protocols," the release stated.
In line with Atmanirbhar Bharat, S E Magesh, Director General said, “C-DAC welcomes academia, R&D institutes, key user departments in ministries, start-ups and industry to join hands for developing products, solutions of national relevance for the benefit of mankind.
Having successfully deployed HPC systems across the nation through National Super Computing Mission, C-DAC has embarked on the journey towards delivering Exascale Computing Mission, Quantum Computing Mission, Microprocessor and Strategic Electronics Mission and IoE, Dependable and Secure Computing Mission. C-DAC's vision is to enhance and synergize technical efficacies for the betterment and ease of life of citizens and position India at a premium space on the global map."
Besides E Magesh, Director General C-DAC, Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary MeitY, Dr A S Pillai, former CEO & MD BrahMos Aerospace, Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, former DG, CSIR, were present at the celebrations.
