The e-BIS portal is a centralized digital platform designed to streamline and enhance the services of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It offers a comprehensive solution for Product Certification, Jeweller Registration, Hallmarking Unique Identity (HUID), Compulsory Registration, Testing, Foreign Manufacturer Certification, Surveillance and Quality control across India. e-BIS has facilitated simplified processes, ensured greater transparency and has also supported businesses in meeting National standards while fostering consumer Trust & Confidence. It is integrated with prominent National platforms like NSWS, PRAYAS and GeM etc. to enhance efficiency. eBIS is contributing in ease of doing business in India and policymakers can use the interactive real-time dashboard to make well-informed decisions.

1. Product Certification:

With the inception of an online e-BIS portal, the product certification process has been simplified to a higher extent for manufacturers, resulting in the elimination of tedious and complex registration processes. The online application eliminates paperwork, reducing administrative overhead. The Real-time status updates provide transparency and timely notifications. The Post-Certification Services include renewal of licenses, inclusion of additional products under existing licenses and scope reduction, and license suspension or cancellation in case of non-compliance.

 2. Jeweller Registration System and Hallmarking Unique Identity (HUID):

The jeweller registration process is quick and effortless and can be done online following a simple set of onscreen instructions. The Jeweller registration process is integrated with National Single Window System (NSWS). Once all the conditions are fulfilled and registration is successful a certificate is generated instantly for sale of Hallmarked Jewellery. 

In order to preserve consumer trust and interest in the purity of Gold Jewellery, an ecosystem Hallmarking Unique Identity (HUID) has been developed for the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Through this transparent and efficient system Jewelers can submit online requests for Hallmarking to BIS authorized "Assay and Hallmarking Centres" (AHC). Each article that passes a quality inspection at AHC is given a unique six-digit HUID, which is laser-engraved on the item. The system maintains records of the entire Hallmarking process. In order to verify the authenticity of the article anyone can use the BIS Care App and validate information such as Jewellery Type, Purity, Hallmarking Date, AHC name etc. 

3. Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS):

The CRS mandates conformity to Indian Standards for electronics products before market entry. The aim is to protect consumers from substandard products. The Application Submission is online. Manufacturers can upload product details and test reports through the portal. The certified products receive a Standard Mark and a Unique registration number. 

4. Surveillance: 

Ensuring ongoing compliance with BIS standards is a priority. Continuous evaluation and monitoring help in tracking of Certified products and Quality assurance. Scheduling, result uploads and corrective actions are quick and simple through the portal. It ensures only Reliable, High-quality products are available in the market providing promising consumer safety.
