Today heads of the two national organizations Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Pune and National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali signed an MOU to strengthen the application of computational biology for bio fortification of crops with high micronutrients and protein to alleviate hunger and malnutrition.
Dr. Hemant Darbari, Director General, C-DAC was today in Mohali to sign an MOU with NABI, Mohali. At this occasion, he also made a presentation about the application of computers in different spheres of life and the role of C-DAC in nation building in IT- Sector. Dr. T.R Sharma, Executive Director, NABI told that this collaboration of NABI and C-DAC will go a long way in decoding the genomes of wheat and pulse crops for identification of Agriculturally important genes and their utilization in developing new varieties of crops. He said for genome analysis of crop plants, very high end computational servers are required for which C-DAC will provide technical support and consultation to strengthen the smart-computing facilities at NABI.
