C-DAC has developed an OT Security Test Station that provides a fully sandboxed testing environment for assessing OT systems. Various entities can use this test station to evaluate their controllers (RTUs). The station is capable of defining plant process models and performing security analysis on the hardware, communication, and software components of the control system used to operate the defined plant processes.

The major components of the OT Security Test Station are:

Test Station Hardware

• Controller for generation of field signals (Analog (AI/AO) - 4-20 mA& 1-5 VDC and Digital (DI/DO) - 24 VDC)to theOT device under test, such as RTU/PLC/IED

Industrial Plant Process Simulation (IPPS) Software

• Software for modelling, simulation and visualization of plant process. Plant process simulation environment for simulation of plant equipment such as sensors & actuators and process for the OT device under test.

Security Analyser Platform

• Capturing and analysis of communication packets in the OT system
• Tools to test the Software Integrity and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) of the OT device under test
• OTsecurity test manual to carry out testing of vulnerability in OT systems

Test Platform

• Virtualized environment for OT computers and network - sandboxed virtual machines for creating OT networks and computers, such as server, engineering workstation, operator console, etc.

·        Facility to install, configure and run complete OT software systems on a virtualized hardware environment

• Test jig, to install and configure various OT devices, like controllers 

OTsystems such as SCADA, PLC, DCS, etc., which are deployed in process industries, power plant, substations, etc.
